For anyone wondering about the illustrations (which are fantastic, great choice!) – it looks like most are public domain, by Kay Nielsen, from the book East of the Sun and West of the Moon (1914). https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/east-of-the-sun-and-west-of-the-moon-illustrated-by-kay-nielsen-1922-edition/

It's official -- Massif just posted:

"We are extremely excited to announce the second, MASSIVE print run of Lancer in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics! The book will be on sale next year, available June 11th and 12th in your book shop or local comic shop and is available for pre-order now!

You will be able to order and pre-order the book from most major retailers or your local game or comic shop, worldwide. You can also order directly from us on our website after the launch date for the beautiful alternate cover..."

looks very cool! Two small typo notes: one of the Flora Detector tables is labeled “Weather” and the Mind table is labeled with a d6, should be d8

on July 6, 2023, Massif Press posted on Twitter: “Though we don't have specific details at this time, we're happy to say we have made arrangements for a second Lancer hard copy printing. We'll hopefully have more specific (and big deal) announcements later this year.”

This is a really rich, interesting game – there are certain absences and ambiguities in the text that nicely mirror the growing uncertainty and surreality of the characters. "The project chooses, not you." *chef's kiss*

I feel like a good Folklore entry helps connect the place to the larger story of your world, in a very lightweight sort of way...

In this thread: tell us (if you like) about what you're working on for the jam, and get a token.

I'll go first: That Bright Land imagines a version of the Hæth in which not all gods are small and forgotten. Some kith feel a presence in the wind and hear a voice from the waves: the Good God. What does faith ask of them? Will their care embrace the divine?

Includes new natures and playbooks (exact number TBD) along with notes on roleplaying a spiritual journey.

"Belonging outside belonging" or BoB is a description of the game engine, kind of like "d20" or "dice pool", but it doesn't use dice or a game master. There's more background at Buried Without Ceremony. Wanderhome is another recent example.

I'm excited to try this out with some friends! I made a playmat for online token/NPC tracking in Google Slides; feel free to make a copy if it would be useful to you!

You’re very welcome! Thank you for designing such a rich and thoughtful game.

Having read through the PDF a time or two now, I really appreciate the depths this game contains. You can use it to tell stories of peaceful wanderings and happy festivals, but as your journey continues you can also explore a land haunted and a people devastated by war. There is a kernel of horror hidden in the loveliness, and all the more vivid for its pastoral surroundings. Wanderhome has more in common with Sleepaway than I initially realized, and it's stronger and deeper for it.

The "heroic" and "royal" traits... the veteran's sword... the Guardian's ward... all the tools are here, if your group wants to pick them up. But you can wait until you're ready, or ignore them completely – and the game will support you.

kinda excited for this!
